Steven Chu to Speak at the Berkeley Forum

BERKELEY, California―March 19, 2014―The Berkeley Forum today announced that for its next event of the Spring 2014 Session, it will host Former Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu.

Dr. Steven Chu is a distinguished scientist in the physical and biological sciences. He has devoted his recent scientific career to addressing the energy and climate challenges of the 21st century. Dr. Chu served as the Secretary of Energy from January 2009 to April 2013, and is the co-recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics (1997). Prior to his appointment as Secretary of Energy, Dr. Chu was the Director of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Dr. Chu will be speaking on the interactions of public policy, social norms, and energy consumption in an address titled Energy and Politics: Moving the World Forward. On Monday, March 31, at 1:00 p.m. PST, join us in Anna Head Alumnae Hall, 2537 Haste Street, for a conversation on the role of politics in society’s use of energy.
