Peter Thiel to Speak at the Berkeley Forum

BERKELEY, California―November 23, 2014―The Berkeley Forum today announced that in December it will bring Peter Thiel to campus for an address entitled "Developing the Developed World."

Peter Thiel is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor, and author of the #1 New York Times bestselling book, Zero to One: Notes on Startups, Or How to Build the Future. Zero to One presents Thiel’s often contrarian ideas about competition, progress, technology, and how to find value in unexpected places – to build a future that we have yet to dream, but will someday become reality. “Developing the Developed World” brings these ideas to life, including his philosophies on creating truly innovative startups in the world of atoms – not just digits and bits, and how to navigate a future marked by globalization in a world of scarce resources.

“So much of the technology world has been influenced by Peter Thiel in one form or another. From creating PayPal to being the first outside investor in Facebook, Thiel is one of the most prolific and successful investors in Silicon Valley. We are delighted to have Peter Thiel speak at the Forum and look forward to hearing what he has to share about the future of start ups and technology,” said Pierre Bourbonnais, the president of the Berkeley Forum.

The address will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in Wheeler Auditorium. Ticket sales will begin on Wednesday, November 26 at 5:00 p.m. More information about the event and admission may be found on the official event page.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Kairos Society.
