Democratic Presidential Candidate Martin O'Malley to Speak at the Berkeley Forum in partnership with Cal Berkeley Democrats


BERKELEY, California―December 7, 2015―Today the Berkeley Forum and Cal Berkeley Democrats announced that the two organizations will host an event with Democratic Presidential Candidate Martin O’Malley this Wednesday.

Martin O’Malley served as the Governor of Maryland from 2007 to 2015 and was previously the Mayor of Baltimore. As Governor of Maryland, he helped the state recover from the national recession and made significant investments in education. Additionally, Governor O’Malley signed into law a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in Maryland. Currently O’Malley is running for the Democratic nomination for president.

“We are honored to be hosting Mr. O’Malley on his visit to the Berkeley campus together with the Cal Berkeley Democrats,” remarked Matthew Freeman, president of the Berkeley Forum. “The Berkeley Forum is excited to affirm the University of California, Berkeley’s role in shaping the national political discourse.”

Olivia McGovern, programs director at Cal Berkeley Democrats, said, “The event will be a unique opportunity for our members and the greater progressive community at Cal to engage in conversation with one of the leading Democratic voices in the nation.”

The address will take place on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Sibley Auditorium on the UC Berkeley campus.
