Berkeley Forum Announces Fall 2015 Executive Committee

BERKELEY, California―July 2, 2014

Today, the Berkeley Forum announced its recently elected Executive Committee for the Fall 2015 session.

President, Matthew Freeman

Matthew Freeman was elected the Berkeley Forum’s president for the Fall 2015 and Spring 2015 sessions. Matthew has previously served as the vice president of programming and an events manager. He has also moderated discussions with guests such as Senator Rand Paul and Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak. Outside of the Forum, he is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and enjoys playing basketball and golf. Matthew is a junior pursuing a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Economics and is a recipient of the Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship.

Vice President of Programming, Daniel Ahrens

Daniel Ahrens was elected the Berkeley Forum’s vice president of programming for the Fall 2015 session. Daniel joined the Berkeley Forum his freshman year as a member of the Programming Committee and served as an Events Manager. Apart from the Forum, Daniel writes for the Berkeley Political Review and conducts research at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Hailing from New Mexico, Daniel is a sophomore pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science and a B.A. in Computer Science.

Vice President of Communications, Remi Schuman

Remi Schuman was elected the Berkeley Forum’s vice president of communications for the Fall 2015 session. Remi joined the Berkeley Forum in Fall 2014, when she served on the Communications Committee. In Spring 2015, Remi served as the Forum’s marketing manager until her election as the vice president of communications. Outside of the Forum, Remi serves as the director of academics of the Berkeley chapter of Alpha Phi. She is a junior pursuing a B.A. in Economics and a minor in History.

Head Moderator, Carter Keeling

Carter Keeling was elected the Berkeley Forum's head moderator for the Fall 2015 session. Carter joined the Forum in September 2013 as a member of the Programming Committee and in January 2014 was appointed events manager. As manager, he organized many widely-attended and successful events. He has served as head moderator of the Forum since the Fall 2014 session, training a diverse team of student moderators and debaters. He has moderated conversations with PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel and Salman Khan, founder of the Khan Academy, among many others. He is a Berkeley junior pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science and Environmental Economics and Policy.

Secretary-Treasurer, Byran Yang

Byran Yang was elected the Berkeley Forum's secretary-treasurer for the Fall 2015 session. Byran is a founding member of the Berkeley Forum and was first appointed secretary-treasurer in September 2012. In 2014, the office of secretary-treasurer was re-designated an executive office, and Byran has since been elected to serve in the position for the Fall 2014, Spring 2015, and Fall 2015 sessions. Byran also serves on the Forum's Technology Division where he works to bring new services to the Berkeley Forum website. He is a Berkeley senior pursuing a B.A. in Computer Science.
